The Brooklyn School Alternatives Conference will be held in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on June 4th and 5th, 2016. Pat Farenga, who worked closely with John Holt and is the co-author of Teach Your Own: The John Holt Book Of Homeschooling, is a leading advocate of the modern homeschooling movement. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective on the history and future of homeschooling. Tomis Parker and Nancy Tilton, from the Agile Learning Centers, will share their experiences building a network of schools that facilitate self-directed learning.
The conference is open to all, including families who are thinking about leaving the traditional school system and those who are already using family and community-based approaches to learning, including homeschooling, free schools, micro schools, and coops.
The Play and Learn Children’s Fair, presented by CottageClass, will be an interactive event with a wide range of engaging learning experiences and playful activities.
